Celebrating the 77th World Town Planning Day- 8 November, 2026

Great communities are built on planning!

As we look ahead to celebrating the 77th World Town Planning Day, the Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP) proudly joins the Global Planners Network and planning professionals around the world in recognizing the vital role of planning in shaping inclusive, resilient and sustainable communities.

Representing 31 member institutes and more than 40,000 planning professionals across the Commonwealth, CAP celebrates the dedication, expertise and contributions of planners working alongside communities to address today's challenges and create opportunities for future generations.

Across the Commonwealth, where rapid urbanisation, climate change and growing social and economic inequalities present both challenges and opportunities, the importance of effective, collaborative and inclusive planning has never been greater.

On this World Town Planning Day, CAP reaffirms our commitment to strengthening the planning profession, advancing sustainable development and supporting the partnerships, knowledge and capacity needed to translate our shared aspirations into meaningful action.

We are pleased to share the Global Planners Network's 2026 World Town Planning Day Declaration, celebrating planning as a public good and a foundation for stronger communities worldwide.
